Motivational Interviewing is defined by William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick, the authors of the approach, as "A client centered directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation for change by exploring and resolving ambivalence".
Learning Objectives:
Upon completing the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply strategies for Rolling with Resistance
- Employ Methods for Eliciting Change Talk
- Use Motivational Interviewing effectively within a Courtroom setting
- Recognize and avoid common communication errors
- Implement Motivational Interviewing skills as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
